Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free tool that can be extremely valuable to anyone who has a website. It gives you the opportunity to view insights about your web traffic and marketing effectiveness which can help you better understand your audience and target your advertising more effectively.

After learning about Google Analytics at my internship this summer at DoSomething.org and again in my Marketing on the Internet class, I decided to try it out on a website that I created for Food for Thought, a student organization at Ithaca College.

I created an account for the website icfoodforthought.webs.com to learn more about how people find the site. Below is the traffic sources from the past week. It's very interesting to see that over 40% of visitors use a search engine to find the site.

In the next few weeks I will continue to analyze Google Analytics to optimize web traffic for Food for Thought's website.
